The Adams pew #54 was purchased by Quincy in 1828, two years after the passing of his father. It was most interesting as an example worshipers had to buy a pew and then pay annual taxes on it. As we entered the church, a well briefed docent took us and another family up to the front of the church were we were seated in pews as he began his narrative on the fascinating church's history.
