The Livestock Disease Control Act 1994 requires anyone who owns 1 or more hives of bees to register as a beekeeper with the department using the BeeMAX beekeeper registration and surveillance database. Legal requirements for keeping bees in Victoria Honey bees that are kept in the one locality will usually provide enough honey for your needs and will help pollinate fruit and berry flowers. Once again, we thank everyone who supported our efforts to get this plate passed and available. Anyone who did not place a pre-order can now order a plate for their vehicle. The "Save the Honey Bee" license plate has been added to the DMV website. When you get your new plate, put the sticker on it, put the new plate on the vehicle you ordered it for, and turn your old plates in to the DMV. So, keep your eyes on your mailboxes! I know we are anxious to get ours. That said, we have heard from several folks that they are getting theirs in the mail. UPDATE 5: Delivery The license plates are being delivered! We have no idea exactly how long the process of delivering all plates will take, or how long it will be before others can now get them. We wish to thank everyone for your support and continued patience during this process. According to DMV, we will receive our specialty Honey Bee plate by May 16, 2016. The NC Senate Bill sponsoring the "Save the Honey Bee" license plate has passed! The State Police have approved the plate and it is in the final stage of the DMV production process. UPDATE 3: The NC State Police are reviewing for approval. We hope that by the end of the year, our vehicles will be sporting a new tag! We wish to thank everyone for your support and patience through this process. Once the plate passes the final inspection, it will go into production. The art work has been submitted to DMV as required and the template for the plate is in production for final approval. UPDATE 2: We are very happy to announce that the NC Senate Bill sponsoring the "Save the Honey Bee" license plate was included in the budget and has passed!! Note: We are no longer accepting applications for bee-plates at this time. UPDATE 1: Woo-hoo! We have reached our goal of 300+ pre-paid license plates! Thank you to everyone that pre-ordered with us. The first 300 applications must be combined into one package with one check submitted to DMV from the Franklin County Beekeepers Association. To comply with this requirement, applications will be collected by the FCBA. The initial applications must be processed as a single submission with one check. The DMV requires 300 pre-paid applications before it will consider the initial plate application. The proposed plate is based on the “First in Flight” plate and a honey bee logo appears on the left hand side of the plate. The Franklin County Beekeepers Association (FCBA) has designed a North Carolina specialty license plate in an effort to bring more awareness to the plight of our state insect, the honey bee. ![]()
